My first sweater
Something that you should know about me is that I have a hard time making decisions. I develop a mental image of whatever it is I'm trying to choose, and then spend lots and lots of time trying to find exACTly what I see in my head. As you might guess, it's not that easy.
As mentioned in this post, the Vanj-meister encouraged me to knit an actual wearable garment, and I spent approximately 1,749,652 hours on ravelry.com trying to find something that wasn't totally intimidating while also being cute and looking precisely like what I had in mind. I finally settled on this pattern by Jane Richmond, and was encouraged that several other knitters made this as their first garment.
The pattern being chosen, I set out to find suitable yarn. Fast-forward another 2.7 gajillion hours, and I decided on this lovely yarn in "Lake Heather." It came, and I cast on, and I got this far:
before discovering that I was doing the raglan increases wrong and I had to rip out a lot of rows to correct that. Besides that little hiccup, this really was a simple and rewarding pattern, as it knitted up very quickly. It's cute and warm and I want to wear it all the time!
